The Super Sprint is a competition that is mainly organised at “show events.” Everyone participating today gets two races. Here’s the chance for members to show how fast they can ski and shoot!
HERE ARE THE RULES:
Classes
· Novice M/F – one or less seasons experience or 16 years and under
· Senior M/F– more than one season’s experience and over 17 years of age
• (If enough competitors a Senior Carry class may be run)
Ski is freestyle (skate or classic, as you prefer)
Distances: three loops with a total distance of approximately 1km.
Two shoots – prone and standing (Novice prone on standing targets)
Four magazine of five shots may be used (twenty total).
This is a non-carry event.
Heats will comprise 4 competitors generally per round, but organisers reserve the right to increase the numbers in a round to 5.
The rifle will be handed the competitor by a range assistant, once the competitor is stationary on the mat. The rifle shall be pointed upward or down range at all times. A safety breach will result in immediate disqualification.
Shooting continues until five targets are hit. Multiple magazines may be used. (for example – six shots on prone to hit five targets, five shoots from the first magazine and one from the next). The magazine must be removed by the competitor before handing the rifle back to the range assistant. The competitor continues by skiing the loop and returning the shoot standing. (Thus for the standing the competitor in the example above will have 2 full magazines and a magazine with four round left to use on the standing targets.) The event is completed by skiing the loop to the finish.
Failure to hit all targets will result in the competitor not progressing to the next round. There will however be a repechage giving those knocked out a second chance to progress to finals.
First two finishers progress to the next round of finals, (subject to hitting all ten targets).
The number of finals with depend on entries (quarter, semi etc).
Competitors will be allocated to heats by lottery, progression will be based on place.
